TOEIC 700 study plan for beginners: a realistic eight-week route
Quick answer

To work toward TOEIC 700, study 45–75 minutes on five or six days each week for eight weeks. Build core sentence grammar and workplace vocabulary in weeks 1–2, improve Listening Parts 2–4 and Reading Parts 5–6 in weeks 3–4, master Part 7 evidence and pacing in weeks 5–6, then use two full mocks with focused repair in weeks 7–8. Your starting score determines whether eight weeks is enough.

Start with a part-by-part diagnostic

Do not use only an overall estimate. Record correct answers and completion for all seven parts. A learner with strong Listening and unfinished Part 7 needs a different plan from someone missing basic Part 5 grammar.

Weeks 1–2: foundation

  • Sentence parts, verb forms, agreement and connectors.
  • Workplace nouns, verbs and collocations from real questions.
  • Short daily Listening transcription.
  • Twenty accurate Part 5 items with explanation, not one hundred guesses.

Weeks 3–4: predictable formats

  • Part 2 question type and indirect response practice.
  • Parts 3–4 preview, speaker purpose and detail notes.
  • Part 6 text flow and contextual grammar.
  • Daily review of paraphrases from errors.

Weeks 5–6: Part 7 and speed

Read the question, locate evidence and explain why distractors fail. Add single passages before double and triple sets. Measure questions completed accurately in a fixed time rather than reading speed alone.

Weeks 7–8: score stability

Take one full mock at the start of week 7 and one near the end of week 8. Between them, repair only the largest accuracy and timing losses. Your goal is stable performance, not one lucky estimate.

A weekly rhythm

  • Two Listening days.
  • Two Reading/grammar days.
  • One mixed timed day.
  • One review or mini-mock day.
  • One genuine rest day.

Frequently asked questions

Is TOEIC 700 a good score?

It is a useful target for many workplace contexts, but employers and roles set their own requirements.

Can a beginner reach TOEIC 700 in two months?

It depends on the baseline. Eight weeks can create a strong gain, but a large vocabulary or grammar gap may need longer.

Should I study vocabulary or grammar first?

Study both through real sentence contexts. Grammar helps structure; collocations help speed and meaning.

How many TOEIC questions should I do daily?

Use a manageable set you can fully review. Twenty corrected questions often beat one hundred unchecked answers.
