SAT for Thai international programmes (2026–27): what score you need, fees, test dates and how to register in Thailand
Quick answer

The Digital SAT is College Board's admissions test, scored 400–1600: Reading and Writing and Math are each scored 200–800. It takes 2 hours 14 minutes in the Bluebook app, and each section is adaptive — your second module is harder or easier depending on how you did in the first. From Thailand you register online with a College Board account, choose a centre with College Board's test-centre search, and pay US$111 (the $68 registration fee plus a $43 international fee, valid through June 2027). The remaining 2026–27 test dates are 7 November and 5 December 2026 and 6 March, 1 May and 5 June 2027. There is no national SAT cut-off: each Thai international programme sets its own rule. For the 2026–2027 intake MUIC asks for SAT Math 600 for its science, engineering, creative-technology and business programmes and 500 for its media and travel programmes, and Thammasat's BBA admissions page lists a 1,280 total. Requirements change each intake — confirm with the programme before you book. Start free practice at engforedu.com/journey and engforedu.com/sat/practice.

What is the Digital SAT?

The SAT is College Board's admissions test, taken at a test centre on a laptop or tablet in the Bluebook app. It has two sections — Reading and Writing, and Math — and 2 hours 14 minutes of testing time.

Each section is split into two modules. College Board says the first module of each section has a broad mix of easy, medium and hard questions, and that the second module is more or less difficult depending on how you performed on the first. That is why the SAT is called section-adaptive: a strong first module unlocks the harder second module, which is where the top scores are.

How to register for the SAT in Thailand, step by step

  • Check what each programme you are applying to asks for (see below) — some use only SAT Math, others the total.
  • Sign in to My SAT (mysat.collegeboard.org) with a College Board account — College Board's international testing page links there to register.
  • Pick a date and a centre in Thailand with College Board's SAT test-centre search. Register early so you get a centre and date that suit you.
  • Pay US$111 by the regular deadline; after it, late registration costs US$38 more.
  • Install Bluebook on your own laptop or tablet and check your device before test day. If you need to borrow a device from College Board, register and request it at least 30 days before test day.
  • Bring an acceptable photo ID on test day. College Board's international policies page says some countries have specific SAT ID rules, so check the rule for Thailand before you go.
  • Send your scores to each programme using the College Board code on its admission page (for example, MUIC lists 7208, Thammasat BBA 0288 and Chula BBA 4559).

How Thai international programmes use SAT scores

There is no national SAT cut-off in Thailand. Each international programme decides whether it uses the SAT at all, which score counts — the total, Math only, or a minimum for each section — the test dates it accepts, and which admission round takes SAT scores. They check your English too: the Thammasat and Chula BBA programmes take English test scores such as IELTS or TOEFL, MUIC accepts IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or Duolingo scores or else sets its own entrance exam and interview, and Thammasat's BBA adds an interview.

Some Thai admission pages still call the Reading and Writing section 'Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW)'. On the Digital SAT that simply means your Reading and Writing section score.

How to find the SAT requirement for any other programme

  • Go to the programme's own website — the faculty or international programme office, not a tutoring school's summary — and open the admission announcement for your intake and round.
  • Look for the minimum total or section scores, whether SAT Math alone counts, the accepted test-date window, whether scores must come from one sitting, and the College Board code for sending scores.
  • Check the English test rule on the same page: which tests are accepted (IELTS, TOEFL, the Duolingo English Test, CU-TEP, TU-GET and so on) and the minimum for each.
  • Allow time for scores to arrive. Chula BBA's site, for example, says College Board delivers SAT scores to it weekly, generally on Fridays.
  • If anything is unclear, email or call the programme office and ask which scores it accepts for your intake.

A practical SAT plan for Thai students

Work backwards from your application deadline: choose a test date that leaves time for a second sitting and for scores to reach the programme. Start with a free diagnostic and daily practice at engforedu.com/journey, then drill Digital SAT-style Reading and Writing and Math questions with English–Thai solutions at engforedu.com/sat/practice. College Board also publishes full-length practice tests in Bluebook, so take one under timed conditions before test day.

Most international programmes also need an English score, so build it at the same time — our guide to the Duolingo English Test for Thai students explains the scores and where it is accepted.
